MARIE COPE

Marie gained a Master of Laws from the University of Sussex before joining the English and Welsh Legal Services Commission working in the area of civil legal aid development.

In 2005 she moved to Wellington, New Zealand and took up the position of Research and Development Adviser at the Legal Services Agency. She has managed New Zealand’s first national legal needs survey and the evaluation of New Zealand’s first salaried legal aid lawyer pilot, now a permanent feature of the justice landscape as the Public Defence Service.
