MR RICHARD MOORHEAD

Mr Richard Moorhead is a Professor and Deputy Head of School at Cardiff Law School, Cardiff University. He is a member of the International Legal Aid Group (a transnational group of academics and senior policy makers). He has three times been specialist adviser to the House of Commons Select Committee for Constitutional Affairs, most recently on their Inquiry into the Carter inspired legal aid reforms. He is also a member of the Civil Justice Council (and part of the Costs Committee working on Supplementary Legal Aid Schemes and contingency fees) and an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Law and Society and the International Journal of the Legal Profession. His current projects include work on the use of contingency fees in employment cases in England and Wales and a process evaluation of Community Legal Aid Centres (CLACs). He has also worked extensively on legal aid and professional competence as well as on litigants in person, judgecraft, the Woolf reforms, conditional fees and solicitors complaints handling and regulation.
