Conference Venue & Accommodation

The ILAG conference will be held at the Savoy Park Plaza International Hotel, 630 Little Collins St (cnr Spencer St), Melbourne, Australia, commencing at 1700 hrs on Wednesday 13 June 2001.

The Savoy Park Plaza International is a 4.5 star hotel in the centre of the Melbourne CBD. It presents with a combination of Art Deco and neo-classical styling with contemporary amenities. Originally built in 1928, the Savoy Park Plaza International was totally renovated in the late 1980s, and re-opened in 1991.

The hotel is situated adjacent to Colonial Stadium at Docklands in Melbourne's rapidily developing business district and only a short stroll to the Crown Casino Entertainment Complex and the Southbank Restaurant Precint.

At the close of the Vancouver conference participants expressed a clear preference for locating the next ILAG conference in a hotel, and that all participants should endeavour to stay at the conference location. Participants felt that the rewards of the ILAG-style conference was as much in the informal, out of hours conversations between managers, researchers, and academics, as in the information shared in the formal conference proceedings. Thus, the convenors would prefer that as many participants as possible stay at the Savoy Park Plaza International during the conference.

Booking of accommodation

The costs of accommodation are the responsibility of individual participants.

We have negotiated a special rate at the Savoy Park Plaza International for ILAG participants. This rate applies not only for the period 13 - 16 June, but also in the week preceding and following the ILAG meeting to accommodate the needs of overseas participants.

The rate agreed with the Savoy Park Plaza International is AUS$170.00 per night (including one (1) full buffet breakfast (inclusive of GST).

The rate of AUS$170.00 applies to all rooms, whether single or double, or occupied on a twin share basis. However, where there is more than one occupant per room, an amount of AUS$22.00 for a full buffet breakfast, or AUS$17.00 for a continental breakfast, will be charged by the hotel.
